Kimberly Gorskie-Garcia
is a birthworker, birth doula, and French-trained baby nurse assistant offering compassionate support through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Guided by the belief that every family deserves respectful, inclusive, and evidence-based care, she creates spaces where people feel informed, empowered, and deeply supported. Kimberly welcomes all birth paths, all family structures, and every journey into parenthood with openness, advocacy, and heart.
What I Do
Grounded in nearly a decade of caring for newborns and families, and shaped by years of advocacy and birthwork, I offer thoughtful, inclusive support through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Every family deserves to feel heard, every decision deserves to be respected, and every journey deserves compassionate care. I am also the co-founder of Pílar center a (future) South Bay-LA feminist center.

From the moment we met Kimberly, she made us feel supported, informed, and completely at ease. She had just welcomed her own third baby the month before our sweet boy arrived, and somehow still made us feel so cared for and supported every step of the way.
I will never forget calling her after receiving news that my fluid was low and discussing what my doctors were recommending. Kimberly helped me process the information, sought additional perspective from trusted midwives, and empowered me to make the most informed decision for our family.
I ended up having a three-day induction, and Kimberly was incredible throughout the entire experience. She spent hours at the hospital with us, brought tools and comfort measures to help me relax, and checked in on both me and my husband constantly when she wasn't there. Her calm presence, encouragement, and reassurance made such a difference during an experience that could have felt much more overwhelming without her.
Her support postpartum was just as helpful. She checked in regularly, showed us how to give our newborn his first bath, and was always available to answer questions during those early weeks. She also prepared my placenta capsules and created a beautiful heart from a portion of my baby's umbilical cord, a thoughtful touch that reflects the care she provides.

My wife and I did the classes. We read the books. But all that stuff goes out the window when it's game time. In that moment, you want Tom Brady as your quarterback. Like a family member, you want someone cool under extreme pressure, trustworthy, and familiar. Kimberly was all of that and more.
She flew in on an umbrella like Mary Poppins, taking the time and attention to explain the delivery process to me like I was a five-year-old, which is what I needed. And that's exactly it: she's a great communicator. Kimberly speaks everyone's language, from doctors and midwives to wives, husbands, and family members.
At one point during our follow-up appointment, she even stepped up and eased the minds of concerned grandparents by answering a firehose of questions at a time when my wife and I were gassed. What a lifesaver!I told her after the delivery, "Sure, we could have done this ourselves, but..." after witnessing the support she gave my wife during one of the most traumatic bodily experiences imaginable, and I say this next part with every fiber of my being, "there's NO WAY I could have done what she did for my wife."
And then, POOF, she vanished... flew away on her umbrella to help another family make another miracle.
All this being said... I cannot thank or recommend Kimberly enough. Book early. (PS: She also happened to take the best picture of us imaginable during my number-one favorite core memory, and that's priceless.)”
